False Memory

real time events

are no longer of value

for we are trapped

in a moment

which was never

as lucid as we

recall it to be,

the older we feel

the harder it gets

not to live

in the past

which was not

what it now

seems to be,

which never was

what it could

have been; what

it should have been.

  1. I know well what it’s like to be trapped in the past. This is brilliant and resonates with me so strongly. You have such a keen eye for truth, and such a deft mind for expressing that truth. I’m a bit in awe of your talent, my friend. 🙂

  2. Speaking as someone who painfully struggles with false memories everyday, I appreciate those like you who can express the best ways of dealing with them through the beauty of art forms. Thank you and Happy New Year.
