Three short poems about loving too much, and loving wrongly:
I.
Her collapsed-self rebuilds itself
A little every day
Around the bright smiles
On the faces of the people
She keeps falling apart for
Only to collapse all over again.
II.
She had been putting herself
Into the pies she bakes,
And every time someone
Refuses to take a bite,
A part of her dies.
III.
If you are forced to put
Your heart into things
You do not want to do,
Those things shall get done,
But in the long run
Neither love shall prevail
Nor shall you!

Love the last one. It rings so true. Crumbling and losing a part of oneself every time…

The heart does take a beating when we are open and lead from there, yet it is also resilient and fierce. Awesome poem, Aaysid.

These are all such poignant poems, Aaysid. Wonderfully worded – I can very much identify with the first one. Sorry, I’m so late catching up on your post. I’m still all behind. How are you? Xx 💖

Hemingways’ quote is perfect in the way it ties together all three of these moving poems. I’m afraid I’ve got a singular talent for losing myself in this very way when it comes to relationships, so each of these speaks to me on a fundamental level. There’s such sadness in these, and the sense of loss of not only the relationship, but of ourselves as well. It’s so difficult to find ourselves when we continually sacrifice ourselves to those we love. After a while, we have no idea who we are anymore. These are gorgeous poems, Aaysid and the trio combined makes for a poignant, touching experience. 🙂
